World War II in the Pacific: Exploring Hawaii and Pacific Island Perspectives Using Primary Sources

Hawaii K-12 teachers are invited to 'World War II in the Pacific: Exploring Hawaii and Pacific Island Perspectives Using Primary Sources.' This is a free of charge, five-day educational program scheduled to begin on July 11.

Travel support and accommodations are available to neighbor island teachers.

The program features experts on World War II in the Pacific. It will be held at the Pearl Harbor Visitors Center and Tokai University Pacific Center off Kapiolani Blvd. Presentations will be given by University of Hawaii faculty, museum curators and historians from the National Park Service.

University of Hawaii speakers will discuss resources at the Hawaii War Records Depository, oral histories as primary sources, Native Hawaiians in the war and documentation of World War II memories in Micronesia and Melanesia.

Applications to attend are due June 14.
